The job grew. The price didn't.
You quote a fixed job. Then come the small requests, the surprises behind the plasterboard and the "while you're here". Most of it is agreed on the doorstep or in a text, and by the time you invoice, nobody remembers it the same way.
- Customer"I thought that was included."
- Customer"You never said it would cost extra."
- You"It's only small, I'll leave it."
- ResultUnpaid work, or an argument over the final bill.
How it works
Four steps from quote to paid
-
01
Set up the job
Customer, what's included, what's not, price, VAT, dates, deposit and payment terms. Start from a template for your trade.
-
02
Send for approval
Send a link by text, email or WhatsApp. Your customer types their name and ticks to approve. The agreement locks.
-
03
Price every extra first
Record the change, the extra cost and any extra days, and send it. You're notified the moment they approve or reject.
-
04
Finish and invoice
Get a dated PDF job record: original price, every approved extra, payments received and the balance due.

What your customer sees
One link. Your name on it. Two taps to decide.
Customers open the link from a text or WhatsApp, on whatever phone they have. They see your business name and logo, the change in plain words, the extra cost, the new finish date and the new total. Then they type their name and approve, or reject with a reason.
- No app to download and no account to create
- Each decision records the typed name, the date and time, and the device used
- A rejection needs a reason, so you know what to change and resend
The job timeline
Every agreement, change and photo, dated and on record
Nothing is overwritten. Edit an agreement and ScopeLock adds a new version instead of changing the old one. So if a bill is ever questioned, you can show what was agreed, when and by whom.
Locked once approved
An approved agreement can't be quietly edited. Anything new goes through a change request, so the original deal always stays clear.
Verbal OKs, marked honestly
Agreed on the doorstep? Log who said yes. It's recorded, but clearly marked as weaker evidence than a written approval, on screen and in the report.
Photos that work without signal
Snap the rotten joist or the hidden pipe as you find it. Photos and notes are timestamped, saved on the phone, and upload when you're back in signal.
You know the moment they decide
A push notification when a customer approves or rejects. See when they opened the link, and send a reminder if they haven't.
Time saved
Work out what it saves you
Put in your own numbers. The sums use the task times in the table, which are our estimates of the paperwork around a typical job, not measured results. Every line is shown so you can check it.
Jobs per month
Extras or changes per job
What your hour is worth
Estimated time saved each month
8 hrs
Worth about £280 a month, or 96 hrs a year
| Task | Usual way | ScopeLock | Saved |
|---|---|---|---|
| Write up the job agreement Template and checklists instead of a document from scratch | 30 min | 10 min | 20 min |
| Get each extra agreed in writing (×3) Price and send from the app instead of calls, texts and notes | 45 min | 9 min | 36 min |
| Chase each answer (×3) Opened status, reminders and a notification when they decide | 30 min | 6 min | 24 min |
| Work out the final bill The report adds up the original price, extras and payments for you | 45 min | 5 min | 40 min |
| Per job | 2 h 30 min | 30 min | 2 h 00 min |
Not counted: the money itself. One extra done for free, or one disputed invoice, usually costs more than the time above. ScopeLock's main job is making sure every extra is agreed and paid.

For anyone who quotes a fixed price and then hears "just one more thing"
Trades
Builders, joiners and carpenters, electricians, plumbers and decorators, where the real job only shows itself once the old one comes out.
Freelancers
Developers, designers, photographers and consultants, where "one more round" and "can it also do this" add up fast.
Sole traders who hate awkward chats
A priced change sent from the app is easier than a conversation about money on the doorstep.
Simple pricing
One plan with everything in it. Subscribe monthly or annually and cancel any time in your App Store or Google Play account.
Prices will be announced when the app launches.
Your customers never pay anything or need an account.
Questions
Does my customer need to download anything?
No. They get a link, open it in their phone's browser, type their name and tick to approve. No app and no account.
Can I change an agreement after it's approved?
Not quietly. Anything new goes through a change request that your customer approves, so the original agreement always stays as it was.
What if they agree in person or on the phone?
Log it and say who approved it. ScopeLock records it but marks it as a verbal approval, which is weaker evidence than a written one.
Does it work with no signal?
Photos and notes save on your phone and upload when you're back in signal.
Where is my data stored?
In the UK (London).
Can I get the figures into my accounts?
Yes. Every job has a PDF job report, and you can export to a spreadsheet (CSV).
No more arguing over the final bill.
Agree the job, price the extras and get paid for them, all from your phone.
